Sorry, this week has been one event after another, and in-between events, we have been hiding in the bathroom as tornado sirens are going off.  So let’s update on everything from the storms to the waves caused by a certain little girl who had a great day swimming in her first Long Course Meet of the year.

Let’s start with the soccer team. It’s been a funny season this year, we started out so promising and have played amazing all year. Sadly, it hasn’t shown in the win column that we seemed to just play everyone close and then lose at the last second. The good news is we have played every team strong and a couple bounces here or there, and we’re in a better seeding for the playoffs. It didn’t happen, and we had to play the wildcard into the playoffs. Then the team finally clicks Friday night. It was supposed to be Thursday, but the weather said no as Tornadoes we’re dropping out of the sky left and right for the last three days.

We went into the playoffs with a little bit of we can do this on our minds and we won the wildcard game 3 to 0 and it was never close and could have been 8 to 0 easy if a couple of the kids would have hit the wide open goal that they got over excited about and missed their shots on. It was a wonderful way to end the week and sends us into next week playing the one seed for a chance at the championship.

We have not really done much with baseball this last week because the weather has pretty much destroyed every chance we have had at practice this week. Now Timmy has gotten out every morning and gotten a good batting practice in. He has also really improved his throwing and catching the past week. So we will soon be playing games and having fun. The good news is that Timmy seems to really love playing baseball.

On to the big event of today, the first swim meet of the Long Course Season. It was a local meet with our team only, but we had officials, and it was a real meet, so it counts. Zoey was signed up for 3 events, so we could see where she is sitting to start the season. She swam a 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly and a 50m Backstroke. In good news, she had significant drops from her last season last time on each of those events, but she seemed a little off still today. She hit Personal Records on all 3 events, but she still seemed slower than her practice has been.

After the meet, we had a team award banquet where they handed out a few awards. Not a ton of awards were given out, and only 3 awards were not tied to the state championships or the best of the south competition. Of those three, one was given to Zoey as the most improved diver on the team. It might sound like a bad award to get, but in all reality, we spent a lot of time the last year working on just that. Today at her meet, she had two great dives in, and for once, we can’t point at her dives as issues for the future. Honestly, she can get better at them, but she actually was pretty good today with them.

It’s been a pretty interesting week as far as the weather has been concerned. We have stayed up till 2 a.m., hunkered in the bathroom a couple of times. Me and two of the girls got stuck in the backroom of Walmart for an hour and a half. We have also watched tornado funnels drop and not hit around us and have seen the devastation of an F3 in the town above us. We are currently in a flash flood warning, and I’m watching for a tornado watch right now.

Between the weather and the sports this week has been very interesting, to say the least.

One last thing I’m going to change the schedule for the blog now that I understand better what time I have and what it takes to write a real post. So expect that new schedule to drop tomorrow when I revamp the main page of the blog.
