I am finally feeling better. I no longer feel like I’m being kicked in the gut 24/7, and it no longer hurts to stand, walk, run, sit, or lay down. Pretty much except the fact I have some wounds still closing and healing that itch and hurt just a bit because they are cuts on my side. I feel great other than those little dudes.
I will say I haven’t exactly conformed to the doctors orders, but I’ve tried. I left the doctors office and went to the soccer field Tuesday night. I never like missing my kids playing. Then again, Thursday night, I was at the game coaching fully again. I also coached 2 6U baseball practices this week. So you know I’ve taken it somewhat easy at home, but I fixed a leak in the garage and played coach also.
Speaking of leak in garage. This last weekend, my wife says she smells mold and sees water in the garage. Due to family visiting, I did not want to take apart the wall between the garage storage and the laundry room. It wasn’t a bad leak, so I waited till the family left. Turns out the laundry hot water supply had a rubbed spot on the copper pipe side that after my bathroom plumbing experience took 5 minutes to fix this time. I have this ability to learn anything I put my mind to, so I may not be a master plumber, but I can defeninitly plumb now. So that issue is fixed and wasn’t too bad, $20 in Shark Bite fittings, and it was done in less time than my wife went to the other room and came back. I was done.
We have so much sports wise going on around here now. Timmy finished spring soccer with 5 goals and 6 or so assists on the season. For only 5 games, that’s a pretty good stat line, and we are jumping up to a bigger league with him in fall, which also means I will start help coach his soccer team in the fall. He has also started his second baseball season, and he has already improved drastically in his catching and throwing ability. I think this season we will be trying him at 3rd base mostly and maybe move him back to 1st if his glove gets better. I do know that he and I are going to spend a bunch of time in a batters cage the next month because he needs to get his bat skills back to where we had them before soccer season. So, between evenings spent in the yard playing catch and the batting cage, we may rival soccer time in the house as far as hours spent.
Oh, soccer, I have the most interesting team I have had yet. The funny part is any given day they can win any game and any other day they can get waxed by a bunch of 7 year Olds. No, seriously, it’s weird, and I can’t explain it, but they are good team that are only getting better, but some times they just quit and don’t care. We have had a lot of hard fought games this season and sadly more losses than wins, but it’s been a close season that can go anyway each day. I’m excited to see how the season ends.
Zoey is full steam ahead in Long Course Practice. She has come home multiple times this last week, ready to pass out, and almost did once in the shower after practice. This is a good thing as she is taking this season seriously. We told her this is her make or break season that decided if this is a hobby or a true chance at more than just laps in the evening. She says she wants more, but now she has to show more through practice and attitude. We have the first small meet in 2 weeks where she will swim 3 events. I know which ones I want her to swim, but I don’t know if it will be those 3 yet. Though I will say I’m not making the 200IM optional I want that for sure. It’s my dream for her lol.
Overall, we are moving fast and without slowing down around here, and I choose a bad time to have surgery. It threw my wife into trying to do it all mode. Which wasn’t a good thing, but I think things are starting to settle in now. We have so many things between sports and church going on the next few months that I don’t see a break till July when we plan on running away to South Carolina for a week. But that’s a completely different story.
I will be going back to my original post style as of tonight. So, no more large gaps between posts anymore. Also, I am working on a couple of other things now. One is the book I am writing, and the other is the mission statement for the ministry we are trying to start this summer. Pray for us as we start work on this.
