Sadly, I have to start this by saying we lost another one this week. Thursday night, as I was looking through clothes, trying to find the right stuff to take on our trip this weekend when my phone started ringing. It was my brother who is also a Marine Veteran. He was crying because one of his best friends and someone I also knew through him had the night before or early that morning shot himself.

The question that always follows this is Why? Why did you do this to your family? Why did you not call me?Did I miss something?

These questions are natural to all of us the second we hear a friend, especially a close friend, who has taken their own life. The truth is that the answer does not lay in the hearts of those still here. The answers were taken from us. Which makes it hard to figure out how to combat this issue.

We see campaigns left and right 22 to a day, or I got your six or even the ; movement. The question comes down to what can we do to help. I’ve been to the edge and came back. I’ve felt the urges of suicide and I know the pull is tremendous, and at points, it doesn’t matter how many kids or people you have in your life that love you. The voice of defeat does not care and is not a discerner of people. It comes for each of us at some point, and knowing how to combat it is something we must all learn to do.

I am working hard to try and figure out what I can do to help save more of our brothers and sisters from the demon in their own head. I still don’t have the answer, but lucky for us all, I know a guy who does, and he left a book for us to read to understand it. All I have to do is read and share it with the world. I know God has put me in a spot to help our veterans, and it is my feeling that is the calling God has put in my life so more than ever I will work towards the goal of opening up something to find and help our veterans and trauma survives to deal with and fight that demon that says your not enough and replace it with a voice of the Holy Spirit that says your enough for God.
