The last week has been a little bit of a tornado for Zoey, myself, and my wife. We got pretty upset about the person who was taking over as coach and from what I am gathering since we are not the only parents that felt that way. Since last week, we have done some tryouts, and she has continued with her team because our biggest swim meet of the season is next weekend. So here is a little update on all of this.

Tryouts wise, we traveled an hour north to a different team, and Zoey loved the coach there. She was nice and is working hard to improve the team there. The issue with that team was twofold. First, the pool is old, and I mean super old to include the locker room is old and moldy, which was a huge turn-off for Zoey she is a clean freak like her mother. Secondly, the team is rebuilding and mostly a bunch of kids that go after school to swim, not to compete. This means not much interest in higher level meets, just smaller close meets. This is an issue because Zoey has goals of making states and going to school with a scholarship. Let alone her want to make the Olympics. So the lack of bigger meets is a major red flag for us, but the coach is amazing there.

We are supposed to go see another team today, but due to a special diving clinic her team is having today, we will not be going to see the other team till later.

On to the current team and practice. My wife or I have sat in the stands every practice since the coaching change for reasons, and we are not the only ones. Let alone only a handful of kids have shown up to practice since the announcement of the coach. The good news is I think the coach took the backlash to heart. So far, she has been a decent coach, and I believe in second chances. I am not saying we are staying, but what I am saying is IF she stays they way she has been this last week, then we will stay.

I want to point out IF we stay, it will not be with the mindset of one false move we are gone. If we stay, it will be slate wiped clean and let’s go make kids better swimmers. As a Christian, how can you sit there and hold the past against someone once you have decided that it does not matter anymore. So the decision is ultimately Zoeys, but we will not make any decisions until after the Huntsville swim meet.

Oh! Oh! let me tell you Monday a kid named *&**&&*^ Hahaha, not saying names came in and taught Zoey to dive correctly, and she hit 6 straight perfect form dives into the water. Anyone who has seen a video knows Zoey can’t dive. it’s killing her times. Well, today we will see if Zoey learned to dive or was it a good day Monday?
